Damián, un costarricense de 40 años, llega a un lugar en medio de la nada llamado Milla 70. Inmerso en una nebulosa dimensión de su subconsciente, Damián morará -rodeado de bosques calcinados y morels - hasta el momento inevitable de aceptar el dolor que lleva dentro. Milla 70 es una road movie del alma.
Damian, a 40-year-old Costa Rican, arrives at a place in the middle of nowhere called 70 mile. Immersed in a nebulous dimension of his subconscious, Damian will dwell - surrounded by charred forests and morels - until the inevitable moment of accepting the pain he is carrying inside. Mile 70 is a road movie of the soul.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Daniel Ross Mix inicia su carrera en la escuela de cine y televisión de San Antonio de Los Baños en Cuba en el año 2000, donde fortalece sus herramientas para la actuación ante cámara al realizar 9 cortometrajes como actor protagonista. De esa experiencia adquiere sus primeras herramientas cinematográficas.
En Costa Rica, toma una pausa en la actuación para codirigir y fotografiar su primer documental “Paso A Paso a sentimental journey”, obra que gana el premio ´Mejor Documental Centroamericano´ del VIII Festival ICARO. En el 2006 es seleccionado para participar en el Berlinale Talent Campus. Ese mismo año gana el concurso para documentales DOCTVIB con su primer largometraje documental ´Querido Camilo´ que se proyecta en la televisión estatal de 16 países latinoamericanos y que gana el premio ´Mejor Documental´ en el X Festival Icaro, La Muestra de cine costarricense, Mención especial en el festival de cine de Oaxaca, con estreno en la selección oficial del IDFA (Ámsterdam) y MIFF (Miami).
Daniel vuelve a la actuación en el 2011 con la película “El Regreso” de Hernán Jiménez, personaje que cala en la crítica y el gusto del público dándole reconocimiento nacional. Participa luego en “Italia 90 la película”, “Apocalypse Earth” de Thunder Levin Asylum Productions, “Medea” de Alexandra Latishev ganadora del CRFIC 2017 y “Atrás hay relámpagos” de Julio Hernández con estreno en el Rotterdam Film Festival. Ese mismo año también dirige y estrena “Juimolos”, un documental sobre los cantautores de guanacaste.
En el 2018 inicia su primer proyecto de Largometraje de ficción “El zoológico de la milla 70” el cual produce, dirige, escribe y actúa. El proyecto, fue filmado en junio del 2018 en Columbia Británica, Canadá. En este momento está en etapa de postproducción. En noviembre 2021 el proyecto es seleccionado en el MAUCC (Mercado de coproducción de Centroamérica y el Caribe), en marzo 2022 es seleccionado para participar en el WIP Málaga del sector industria del Festival de Málaga y en abril es seleccionado para el WIP del CRFIC.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Daniel Ross Mix began his career at the San Antonio de Los Baños film and television school in Cuba in the year 2000, where he strengthened his tools for acting on camera by making 9 short films as a leading actor. From that experience he acquired his first cinematographic tools.
In Costa Rica, he takes a break from acting to co-direct and photograph his first documentary “Paso A Paso a sentimental journey”, a work that won the Best Central American Documentary award at the VIII ICARO Festival.
In 2006 he is selected to participate in the Berlinale Talent Campus. That same year, he won the DOCTVIB documentary contest with his first feature documentary film “Querido Camilo” which was screened on state television in 16 Latin American countries and won the Best Documentary award at the X Icaro Festival, The Costa Rican Film Festival, Special Mention in the Oaxaca Film Festival, premiering in the official selection of IDFA (Amsterdam) and MIFF (Miami).
Daniel returned to acting in 2011 with the film "El Regreso" by Hernán Jiménez, a character who caught on with critics and the public's taste, giving him national recognition. That same year he also directed and premiered "Juimolos", a documentary about singer-songwriters from Guanacaste.
In 2018 he began his first fiction feature film project "El zoo de la milla 70" which he produces, directs, writes and acts. The project was filmed in June 2018 in British Columbia, Canada. It is currently in the post-production stage. In November 2021 the project is selected in the MAUCC (Central American and Caribbean Co-Production Market), in March 2022 it is selected to participate in the Malaga WIP of the industry sector of the Malaga Festival and in April it is selected for the CRFIC WIP.
